Gov. Gavin Newsom critized fellow Democrats for considering blocking former president Donald Trump from California's 2024 presidential primary ballot, saying that, "we defeat candidates at the polls."
"There is no doubt that Donald Trump is a threat to our liberties and even to our democracy," Newsom said in a statement. "But in California, we defeat candidates at the polls." "Everything else is a political distraction," Newsom said.
The effort to boot Trump off the ballot has been gaining momentum after Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis sent a letter to California Secretary of State, Dr. Shirley Weber, and urged her to "explore" all legal options of removing the former President from the state's ballot.

He meant in the vote counting rooms.
Should be “blasts” in the title.
...and the mail boxes.
Tell that to the Californians who approved Prop 8.
First Fetterman breaks with Dems to argue against Hamas.
Now Gavin defends Trump on the ballot.
I knew those yuge solar energy waves against the Earth would have an effect.
Geez Louise , Gavin Newsome is bending over backwards to show America that he is not one of those knee-jerk radical liberal Democrats. He wants to show that he’s actually a reasonable Democrat.
or rather, in the vote counting room
DJT is not a threat to democracy. Democrats need to stop blaming Trump for their own attacks against democracy that undermine our electoral process. And we are a republic. Communists and fascists use the word democracy.
Never believe he has the good of the country at heart.
The new "Rudy Rule".
Only because Newsom knows H@ll will freeze over before Trump wins CA.
What is this bull puckey about “our” liberties and “our” democracy? California liberals, and liberals in general, seem to have an entirely different definition of what constitutes “liberty” and “democracy”.
Maybe Donald Trump IS a threat to those “liberties” and that “democracy”, but from where I stand, Trump has consistently defended the liberties and governmental representation that I consider to be essential to good civil order and peaceable enjoyment of the enumerated rights to “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”.
I have to keep hoping....

Another fine moment for Chicks in Government.
I guess I understand why they passed that 19th Amendment: There there weren't enough ugly, air-head socialists trying to re-purpose our government as a tool to destroy better-looking women's families.
I despise the use of cliches in writings because it’s lazy, and news coverage is drenched in them. I live here in CA. The rat Lieutenant Governor made that statement a few days ago, and I’ve not heard of any coverage of other leaders
Agreeing with her. The use of “gain momentum”
In this article is cliched, and the vice of that in this particular instance is that it’s false
He is saying that because he figures that the insurrection angle won't work for now. The solution is in counting the ballots.
