What about Occam’s Razor? If Oswald was a person who defected to the USSR, they had no involvement?

Occam’s Razor doesn’t allow for government shenanigans. Oswald was very likely an agent for the CIA and/or FBI. “Defectors” almost never get their passports and citizenship restored AND get their Soviet bride to come home rapidly.
Or write detailed and funny reports about their activities in the USSR (Appendix 16 Warren Report).

We know that the Soviets had nothing to do with the assassination thanks to Morris Childs, who was in the Kremlin with Soviet leaders when JFK was shot.

Childs was our most valuable spy of the entire Cold War. He was the money courier for the CPUSA and the Soviets trusted him implicitly and treated him like one of their own.

The Russians were as shocked by the assassination as we were. They had a grudging respect for Kennedy and they were running through every possible scenario for who could have been responsible.

There’s a great book on Morris Childs and his brother Jack, who also spied for us. Reagan awarded both of them the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
