New York was one of the original 13 slave states. Made a lot of money off of it too.
New York, named after the Duke of York (Who was BTW the chieftain of the Royal African Company - a company chartered for trafficking in chattel slaves) was an Empire slave colony for over 100 years until 1776.
Before that, New York/New Amsterdam was a slave colony of the Netherlands.
The United States nor the U.S. state should not pay for what another country is guilty of. Let them pay their own bar tab.
Piytar: This will never end until we start recognizing and talking about how European countries are primarily at guilt here and they are they ones who should pay the reparations.
