There were some anti-Trump folks on CSPAN last night who did their homework and interviewed a wide variety of President Trump supporters.
What was the “secret” that no other Republican could touch?
He was the only candidate that the voters believe would fight for them through thick and thin.
That was it.
There is no way another primary candidate can touch that—because they have not had the chance to be battle tested.
If the DeSantis team had done their homework from day one they could easily have figured this out—and sat this one out...
It’s not rocket science.
1) Drain the Swamp
2) Build the Wall
3) American First In All Things
Career politicians worshipping at the altar of the party elite can’t even get #1. So they try to jump past it or pretend no one knows what it means.
When you are a career politician, how can you assure voters you will attack the Swamp?
All the writers from DC and NYC and California cannot understand they are held in utter contempt. They just move past that and want to talk about taxes and spending.
But no. There is no moving past it. They are Swamp Filth, like any politician with a career as such. This is why Trump eclipses them.
I believe it is an issue of authenticity.
Trump may be mercurial. He may be erratic. He may not think before speaking. He may be disrespectful to people who are antagonizing him. He may be flat out wrong on some issues.
But there is one thing that Trump IS:
Authentic.
He is what he is, good and bad. He isn’t a “put up a finger to see which way the wind blows” kind of person, and he isn’t a candidate for “panel tested stances or speeches”.
So, with all his warts, that is why we support him, those of of us who do.
When they let “Trump Be Trump”, you can see just who and what he is. Contrast that with people like nearly every single modern politician we have seen in the Oval Office. People who are smooth. Well spoken. Have tailor fitted suits and hair that looks perfectly coiffed. Wonky on issues, professing to know them from top-to-bottom.
I have seen those people. I abhor them. I’ll take someone who is crass, unattractive in the traditional sense, doesn’t play well with some people, insults people, or calls them names, as long as he does what is right for this country.
And that is why they hate him, they fear him, and want to destroy him. They cannot control him. And they don’t like that. He isn’t part of the “controlled opposition”.
And I say: Good.
