If any compromise depends on a Democrat administration stopping them at the border, we lose because they will never be stopped. However, if it depends on stopping them BEFORE they reach the border with Stay in Mexico enacted, ending catch and release and enacting national E Verify to tell them they will never get a legal job to support themselves here, we win.
