Which brings up the question? How do/ will they perform against a modern Army like China or Russia?

The answer is unknown, but all evidence points to a huge US military defeat in the near future. Being ex 82nd in the 70’s, and being involved with Vets since then, I can say I never would have thought the military could have evolved into such a sorry state…..for many reasons…I can “ pinpoint “ the decline- when politicians allowed females into the combat arms branches, the Feminization of the military…..and when bayonet training was dropped-it signaled the “ End”.

That said, our “ best” , SF, Delta Force, SEALS, Marine Recon, etc. appears to be able to do the job when called upon….but there simply is not enough of them .

when politicians allowed females into the combat arms branches,

That became inevitable when females were permitted to vote and hold office.

Repeal 19.

I was active from 76-84, Army ADA. My base pay my first two years as a butterbar was $666 a month. I was a platoon leader for 3 different platoons; all 3 of my platoon sergeants had at least one tour in Vietnam. Once I got my feet wet with a couple of tac evals, it was clear sailing. Had the time of my life in Germany.

I was lucky, women were not allowed in our units, ADA Chaparral/Vulcan.

The ability to wage war like we did in Iraq is not there. Our grunts in the army is not the same as the ones we had just 20 years ago

While the military is deteriorating a lot of people overlook how much of our military is killing machines and technology.

While we can look at them and mock them in comparison to ourselves there is the reality that they can still operate a lot of death-dealing technology.

While I worry about our bench depth and all the weaknesses that can show up in a total war like WWII where the system breaksdown and individual toughness and will come into play, these current forces can still deal out massive amounts of destruction and death to enemy forces.
