J.D. Vance says Ukraine will have to ‘cede some territory’

Sen. J.D. Vance said Sunday that U.S. officials should accept the notion that Ukraine is likely to “cede some territory” in its fight against unprovoked Russian aggression. The Ohio Republican’s remarks come as Congress weighs more aid for Ukraine, with Democrats calling for additional assistance with few if any strings attached and Republicans trying to link aid to more funding to secure the southern U.S. border. “What’s in America’s best interest is to accept Ukraine is going to have to cede some territory to the Russians and we need to bring this war to a close,” Mr. Vance, who opposes more aid, said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “But when I think about the great human tragedy here, hundreds of thousands of Eastern Europeans innocent have been killed in this conflict, the thing that’s in our interest and in theirs is to stop the killing.” President Biden has requested another $60 billion for Ukraine as part of a $110 billion national security package that also includes money for Israel and Taiwan. “On the Ukraine question, in particular, everybody with a brain in their head knows this was always going to end in negotiation,” Mr. Vance said. “The idea that Ukraine was going to throw Russia back to the 1991 border was preposterous. Nobody actually believed it.”

What we’re saying to the president, and really to the entire world, is ‘You need to articulate what the ambition is. What is $61 billion going to accomplish that $100 billion hasn’t?’” he added.

We fund this proxy war. He who pays the piper calls the tune. We paid for this microphone. Ukraine doesn’t have an open checkbook on the American taxpayer. We have spent close to $200 billion on this war without a Congressional vote on our involvement in this war. What is the exit strategy?

We can’t afford these endless wars. We had a $1.7 trillion budget deficit this past fiscal year along with $800 billion in debt servicing costs. This fiscal year we will have a $2 trillion budget deficit and $1 trillion in debt servicing costs. We have added $1 trillion dollars to the national debt in the past 90 days. We have a $34 trillion national debt.

Since Biden has been in office 8 million illegal aliens have entered the country along with 2.2 million legal permanent immigrants. Our cities are falling apart as the infrastructure decays and criminals run amok. Biden is in the process of destroying this country including the woke military. The billions we are send to Ukraine don’t benefit the American people.

How would that change anything? Federal employees don’t vote for or against any of this! You could conscript and send all the federal employees but without changing Congress it wouldn’t matter. Congress would be happy to send others! They think it’s great that you’ve never read the Constitution and don’t know how such decisions are made. The suffer very little for their decisions. What is it a 98% reelection rate. My Congresscritter is great it’s those other bastards is the common attitude.

Ukraine should have done that 2 years ago and saved alot of Ukrainian lives.
—————
Actually, the Minsk Accords ( 2014) that the Ukies backed out of in 2015 called for the Russian Territories to be given special sovereign status ( ie, an autonomous zone within Ukraine proper)…….but when the Ukrainian Azov Nazi’s began shelling them they voted for full Independence . No changing the facts.

…..so here we are. Vlad now needs to take everything East of the Dniepner, it will give him the buffer zone needed to keep the ever expanding NATO off his doorstep.

He’s my Senator. I voted from him. He’s putting America first and representing his constituents.

Not representing THIS constituent. I held my nose and voted for him, but as expected this is another disappointment. A compromise today may set back Moscow's timetable a few years, but they'll be back for more as soon as they see an opening.

Moscow strove to be an imperial power to compete with Spain, Britain and France. Lacking a navy, they did it by over-running all their neighbors. The Western powers have given up their imperial ambitions. Moscow hasn't. I wish I could get people to understand this, but no-one seems to want to READ anymore. They just go with TikTok and anonymous YouTube memes and never look underneath.

Time to “cut bait” on Zelensky and the “dependent Ukraine project.”

Hell, I’ll send the comedian a history book with Perfidious Albion underlined for him.

Why would Russia stop fighting? Give them land. then when they attack Poland, just give them more land, they attack Latvia, give them more land, they attack Germany, give them more land, they attack Mexico, give them more land... Where does it stop.

It should stop before attacking a NATO country because then we will have to send troops and $Billions. So stop them in Ukraine to save our soldiers.

“J.D. Vance says Ukraine will have to ‘cede some territory’”

The amount of territory Ukraine is forced to cede is directly proportional to how much foreign aid they receive.

The Polaks, Krauts, Frogs, and Limeys will have figure it out.

As far as ‘Having’ to fight for countries that are part of the convoluted NATO treaty, our troops only die if the executive & legislative branches vote to send our military to die somewhere.
