The funny - not ‘ha-ha’ - thing is that every home still has a hard wired demarc box run to the house (which is required by law in (every?) states to provide 911 service whether a live landline or not. Meaning that every home that’s not ‘off grid’ has the potential for secure monitoring.
If our legislators gave a rat, they’d require a very low fee for alarm system monitoring, rather than the high cost of having a full-service landline (plus taxes). Besides, you’d think that all the baby bells would want that revenue stream from ‘dead’ demarcs.
Somebody with some clout just needs to push the right buttons, but I won’t hold my breath...
