Eastern Washington is not that bad (outside of Spokane) and some of the crime infested locales in Central Washington. However, things will take a big turn for the worse after they get the income tax in Olympia.
That is when they will start to lose some of the big corporations that fund the madness.
Although we generally don’t register political affiliation here as the article indicates, my county in Eastern WA has about the same percentage of professing Republicans (~65%) as Idaho overall.
I read a post on Nextdoor saying that King County is raising its sales tax - which is something like 3rd highest in the nation already.
