one isn't sure that this person is NOT someone who has at least had a presence here at FR ... One hopes that one is mistaken, of course. Quite possible, and if so, she would be quite disappointed in some of the comments here.
"Loss of confidence" could be anything from a poor showing on a command inspection to an "inappropriate relationship" and a hundred things in between. With some of the recent political shifts on FR, there is no way I would be caught posting or browsing this site on a DoD computer (were I still employed by the DoD). In fact, that could even cause a CO to be relieved.

There are a fair number of excellent African-American authors, but I can’t imagine an American university would offer a degree involving any of them.

One would be willing to wager is that there are no more black female army colonels in the US Army than could be counted on one hand.
Out of 3950 female O-6s? That seems very dubious.
