Liz Cheney says Donald Trump's 'dictator' remark should be taken 'literally and seriously'

Former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney, who is warning about the potential dangers of a second Donald Trump presidency, said Americans should take his recent dictator remark "literally and seriously."

Trump raised alarms earlier this week when he declined to flat out reassure the public that he wouldn't abuse power if he is elected, instead telling Fox News host Sean Hannity he wouldn't be a dictator "except on Day One."

Some Republicans have suggested Trump was making a joke but Cheney -- who had a lead role in investigating his actions after the 2020 election and on Jan. 6, 2021 -- disagreed.

"I think we have to take everything that Donald Trump says literally and seriously," Cheney said in an interview with ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl, which will air Sunday on "This Week."

"And I think that we saw, frankly, what he was willing to do already after the 2020 election in the lead up to Jan. 6, after Jan 6," she continued. "People need to remember that when Donald Trump woke up on the morning of Jan. 6, he thought he was going to remain as president. And we saw the extent to which he was willing to attempt to seize power when he lost an election."

Cheney called it "wishful thinking" to believe that Trump would "now abide by the rulings of the courts or be stopped by the guardrails of our democracy."

It cost Cheney her congressional career to take on Trump, who she's characterized as an existential threat to American democracy and perhaps the "most dangerous" person to ever occupy the Oval Office. Trump, hitting back in social media posts this week, called her comments "unhinged" and said she is suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome."

The Cheney and Bush families should all be forced to live in Iraq.

As if anything that pile of ignorance says should be given any attention whatsoever. Her party kicked her out. She now lives on the side of the Democrats - who provide proof that evolution does not always go in a positive direction.

Defeated Republican for Wyoming Lizard Cheney, who was overwhelmingly rejected by her constituents...

Because THAT is what happened. She is scraped off dog poo on a shoe, and stinks.

Notice how her abject failure and loss is NEVER mentioned in the media, except as some Leftist badge of honor.

Yeah, lets take somebody’s remarks seriously all right.

For example,

“We have put together the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics.”

The “most extensive and inclusive...”

Right Joe, right Liz ???

I would love to see inside Liz Cheney’s head. Donald Trump must be taking up most of her brain, and the TDS is causing her to malfunction! Next thing you know, she will be pestering Fauci to invent a vaccine for it! LOL!

Really Liz? As opposed to the truly oppressive regime that is in power now?

You cannot speak against the current fascists in the government without some severe consequences.

They are deliberately greenlighting assignation attempts.
They know it, would not tolerate it against a deep state choice.

Never forget what Obama and Biden have done to this country.

Liz Cheney is like that crazy homeless lady on the street who is gesturing wildly and randomly shouting nonsense to no one in particular.

\/

i swear to gawd...i saw a homeless lady that looked exactly like her being told by a safeway employee out side their front door

” lady ! pull up your pants !!! you are in public !! “

birds of a feather as liz is just as obliviouse to her own state of mental derangement.

The Delusional Lying Dictatorial Left would also have you confused about dictatorship.

By definition a dictator combines and exercises both legislative and executive powers. The Constitution does not authorize such executive action as it structures our federal government with a Separation of Powers - Legislative (Congress MAKES the laws), Executive (the President ENFORCES the laws), and Judicial.

Private enterprise on the other hand is not under constitutional authority and owners/CEO’s/presidents of companies can be dictatorial and often are and if he knows what he’d doing is probably a good thing for the company.

“Dictatorship” and “free speech” issues ONLY apply to GOVERNMENT, not private enterprise or individuals. While government is SEVERELY LIMITED by the Constitution, private enterprise or individuals are free from constitutional restraints. Private enterprise can dictate to their employees and individuals can dictate to themselves whatever they want.

Our Free Constitutional Republic SEVERELY LIMITS the bounds of government which is NOT ALLOWED to be dictatorial although the totalitarian Biden/Obama administration ignores that. The Delusional Lying Dictator-Loving Leftists pretend they’re afraid of dictatorship when their heroes Biden/Obama dictate their way to making the federal government a totalitarian regime. I wonder how many of these people read posts and comments on FR including Trump. Some of the stuff we talk about here on FR seems to show up pretty soon after we talk about it here.

Having said that, I love Trump because he loves America. Trump is a very successful businessman. One reason is because to be successful in business the guy in charge who knows what he is doing makes the decisions. Those who resist are often fired. In that sense a President or CEO of a Free Enterprise Company could very well be dictatorial and be very successful. Nothing wrong with that.

I think as a successful businessman, Trump is used to being dictatorial and has every right to be so since he is the owner of the business. And it obviously served him and his enterprise very well. Again, nothing wrong with that in private business. Again the Constitution has no limitations on individuals or private business which are free to follow their own pursuits.

But government is a different animal. Although running a government like a business is a good idea in certain ways, America’s Free Constitutional Republic does not authorize the Executive Branch - the President - to legislate (make rules and laws). Legislation is reserved for Congress.

Executive Orders (EO’s) are an example Presidential legislation and THAT is dictatorship. Dictators make up the rules and then execute them. In America such presidential action is unconstitutional.

Trump is doing that mainly because America is in an emergency mode to correct the threatening acts implemented by his Leftist predecessors. Fair enough. But at some point, the goal MUST BE to reestablish the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land against the feds and to dismantle the $3+ trillion unconstitutional portion of the feds.

Either we dismantle it or dismantles us as Biden/Obama are trying to do right now.

FREEDOM FIRST, EVERYTHING ELSE SECOND!
