Ukraine Assassinates Former Politician Who Criticized Zelensky: ‘Traitor, Collaborator’
Breitbart ^ | 12/06/2023 | Oliver JJ. Lane

Ilya Kiva, who was a Member of Parliament in Ukraine until the war started and dissenting lawmakers were purged, was shot in the head in an assassination claimed by the Ukrainian intelligence service.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) confirmed they were responsible for the killing of a former Member of Parliament of the nation who was found dead in Moscow, Russia, Ukrinform reports. The report from the Ukrainian state news outlet described Ilya Kiva as a “top traitor, collaborator and propagandist… criminal” and stated he was “liquidated” with “small arms”, or gunfire.

So Aldrich Ames and Hanssen were not traitors because the USA was not “at war” with Russia at the time ?

Come on.

We have once again got the double standard where Putin is assassinating civilian opponents in foreign countries, and it is the worst crime ever.

But Ukraine does the same and it is righteous and deserved.

Z taking out his political foes

Well. It's not so cut and dried as that (like much of Ukraine and Russia).

Isn't Ilya Kiva one of the ones who supported Russia's invasion of Ukraine to "liberate Ukraine" as some kind of people united with Russia? And isn't he the one who said Russia should even use WMD's against Ukraine? And he was killed where? According to the article he was in Moscow, Ukraine's enemy's capitol.

This is one of those few times I have to side with Z.

Nice try, kid. We were not at war with either the USSR or Russia; hence, there was no actionable treason. Ames and Hanssen were convicted of ESPIONAGE, not TREASON.

Did Biden sanction this? And did the victim have evidence against Biden crime family?

Sounds rather treasonous to me. It would be akin to a sitting US Congressman in December, 1941 moving to Tokyo right after Pearl Harbor.

The big difference is in America those charged with treason were given a trial, not shot in the back of the head in some back alley by agents of the government…but then as St Zelensky has cancelled elections this is no surprise.

There is hope tho, Zalushny has been reported as holding meetings on negotiations with Russia …(without St Zelensky’s approval) being the top Ukie General, he knows the Ukies are spent, done…it is increasingly evident and more likely St Zelensky doesn’t survive to spend one dime of his dirty money.

When one plays, rules are established. Assassination breeds assassination, just as shooting at someone armed generates return fire. That the "security" types brag openly about such and get press coverage is stupid. But then again ---
Nice Ukraine List

We were in a Cold War with the Soviet Union at the least. A nation, unlike Russia, that was an actual threat to us!

“The big difference is in America those charged with treason were given a trial, not shot in the back of the head in some back alley by agents of the government…but then as St Zelensky has cancelled elections this is no surprise.”

Nice try, kid. Please give us the names of those in America charged with TREASON, CONVICTED and EXECUTED for the crime since the Civil War. Hell, even those convicted for treason during WWII were not executed.

Also, you will note that I did not pass judgment on the assassination, one way or the other; I merely said that under the circumstances (the target had allied himself with his country’s enemy during time of war) that it sounded like treason to me.

Facts, Ivan, are stubborn things; which is why I have noticed you seek to avoid them.

Probably so, though India secret services recently tried to assassinate Sikh separatists in both Canada and the USA, and the Mossad wouldn’t hesitate to kill Hamas leaders who sneaked across our porous border.

“Probably so, though India secret services recently tried to assassinate Sikh separatists in both Canada and the USA...”

Which would be extrajudicial killings (murders) unless Indian law allows it (in which case the killings would be legal according to Indian law, but probably not Canadian or US law).

“...and the Mossad wouldn’t hesitate to kill Hamas leaders who sneaked across our porous border.”

Clearly legal per Israeli law; but they could run afoul of US law.

Which brings us back to the initial post: If the assassination was legal under Ukrainian law, then there should be no adverse legal repercussions in or from Ukraine against the perpetrators; if it is not legal under Russian law, then Russia could bring charges.

Which would bring up an interesting dichotomy: Russia clearly thinks it’s okay to murder its dissidents the world over, but denies other countries the same right. Popcorn time.

Yes, it does. And it always has (even before Machiavelli ever drew breath, as what he said was not — historically — unique).
