I was surprised to learn that Israel had stringent gun control. Virtually everybody has to serve in the defense forces and gets trained to handle weapons. If any country needs a ready militia, its Israel.
With the neutering of police forces in America, we really need to recognize the usefulness of militias in America for civil defense. I would like to see a law that allows militias to come out of the shadows and form in every town. That would also shush gun controllers quibbling about the meaning of the 2A.
