Troy Denning has made a living imagining fantastical plots as a prolific writer of science fiction with numerous Star Wars tomes under his belt.
He's now envisioning a real-life storyline about a disturbance in the electoral force, in which millions of Democrats vote in Republican primary contests in a mission to stop Donald Trump. Denning is himself grappling with whether to drift to the other side. To join a rebel alliance, if you will, with non-Trump Republicans to help one of the other candidates win the primary in his home state of Wisconsin.
"Nikki Haley is somebody I would never vote for in the general," Denning said in an interview, referring to the former UN ambassador and South Carolina governor. "But if I have to end up having her as my president, I would feel a lot safer than I would if Donald Trump is my president."
Denning is a political moderate who voted decades ago for Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr. He's now keen on seeing the Republicans nominate either Haley or Chris Christie, former governor of New Jersey.
But his literary vocation is appropriate for this moment. The idea of stopping Trump — at this point, especially in the primaries — is beginning to resemble science-fiction.

Can't just let the people choose who they want, right? We have to put our thumb on the scale...to "help out."
I don't know Florida registration rules, but this also may be part of the reason why Florida Democrats just cancelled their primary, so Democrats would be free to vote in the Republican primary.
LOL! They’re truly desperate. They know they can’t beat Trump in a general election. The RINOs know they can’t beat Trump in the Republican primary. So now Democrats and Assistant Democrats are fantasizing about teaming up against Trump in the Republican primaries.
This is not possible of course. Too many states have closed primaries, doo many Democrats won’t bother switching registration, etc etc
Unfortunately too many states have OPEN primaries, and Democrats have been choosing Republican candidates for decades.
The problem with that scenario is in heavy Democrat areas the primary is basically the election. You would have to forgo voting for local or state office Democrats.
I read yesterday Biden is closing more coal plants, so think of the logic here: He wants everyone to drive electic vehicles at the same time he is reducing production of electricity. Maybe we should all ride around in ponies.
Wow Nikki Haley the military shill who never saw a war she didn’t love. The Neocons, neocon is someone you feel safer with than the guy who kept America out of war for four years.
How do they write this stuff. Trump is the safe President. He is the guy who let them investigate because he is that clean. He is the one who kept us out of foreign wars. He is the man America wants. You of course will never get Haley. Because Trump voters would never vote for her in the general. But they probably already know that.
“The problem with that scenario is in heavy Democrat areas the primary is basically the election. You would have to forgo voting for local or state office Democrats.”
That’s correct, but it’s only the case if the state combines the presidential primary with the regular primary.
Sometimes they do.
Everyone should be able to vote in all the primaries. This two party bs has got to go.
Democrats operate chaotically.
Just dump the whole primary election system. Have one election for president and let the people choose. Simlistic, yes. But... KISS.
bkmk
That is known as dictatorship.
The whole idea of primaries is to reduce the power of parties, and increase the power of the Media.
We only had one party at the beginning. George Washington warned against having split parties.
No No No. I mean we should have Individuals running, not some member of a corrupt Government supported party.
Here’s a wild way for Democrats to try to stop Trump: Vote in Republican primaries

Where is the CBS News article on the “Wild Way” for Republicans to stop Biden?
So, we know who our nominee is going to be, can I use my vote to vote for a Democrat in the primary? Actually I live in NH and Biden won’t be on the ballot. How about RFK? isn’t turnabout fair play?
Is this not a variation of something that Rush suggested years ago to stop Hillary?
How does this moron think Georgia and South Carolina control things?
The media was interviewing Democrats that voted for Kemp and Raffensberger because they feared Perdue and Hice were too close to Pres Trump
I’ll have to disagree.
They cause chaos but they always have a plan and act very methodically.
