“If I was a political person...”
First, he has no command of the English language. The correct expression is, “If I were a political person.”
Second, he is a political person, bought and paid for.
Third, he is not a very bright political person.
Fourth, he has no backbone and no balls.
Excellent points.
And the grammatical errors aside, why would he say, if he were a political person, he would do this or that? He is a political person. He is a career politician who was briefly at the Pinnacle of his career , as Speaker of the House.
