It amazes me that apparently not one person who entered the buildings at the Capital did not have the foresight to record video of LEOs giving an affirmative verbal acknowledgment that it was okay to enter. Not one person. The released tapes should shed some light on the specifics of people accessing the building.
I will also point out that several posters, myself included, posted it was a mistake to go to such a rally because things could easily get out of hand due to protestors, etc.
It was a tactical mistake for President Trump to suggest such a rally, and he made it worse by essentially washing his hands of the matter once it occurred. He failed, as I see it, in leadership at a critical time. But whatever the case, the Pardon power could have been used for non-violent / non-theft participants.
Trespass is a nonviolent crime.
People who trespassed should get charged and convicted and punished appropriately.
The problem I have is a person who was falsely charged and convicted of trespass. Those are the ones who were waved in, or who found an open door and didn't realize that they were trespassing.
And I have a problem with harsh inappropriate sentences for those people who did trespass.
Those are the real injustices and those problems didn't become apparent until after January 20th.
There was nothing Trump could have done about that.
