How Will Florida’s Conservative Movement Fare After DeSantis?

Florida has earned a reputation in recent years as one of the most conservative states in the nation. While the Sunshine State has certainly been home to some significant conservative victories, the future’s not set in stone. For Florida patriots, conservatives, and constitutionalists, it’s worth considering whether the conditions that have hitherto been sustaining a “Free Florida” can be perpetuated.

In reality, the relatively staunchly conservative trend in Florida seen of late has largely been tied to the political career of one man: Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Florida has long had a conservative swing to it. The lack of a state income tax has made the state a magnet for entrepreneurs, business owners, and others who tend to be of the fiscally conservative persuasion. The virtually year-long summer has made it a popular retirement destination, and those who have the money to uproot themselves from their place of origin to buy a beachfront property in sunny Florida tend to vote fiscally conservative as well.

And while Florida has an ethnically diverse population, the state is unique in that its significant Hispanic population votes conservatively at a greater proportion than the Hispanic populations of other states, largely due to the fact that Florida Hispanics tend to be averse to communism because they or their immediate ancestors escaped from socialist regimes in places such as Cuba and Venezuela.

Depends on who the Republicans nominate for governor, will it be a solid conservative or more like former Republican Charlie Crist or equally bad a Jen Bush Republican

California is pretty much a solid Democrat/liberal mecca, why can’t Florida be a Conservative one?

Should be Marco-high profile. He can quit on a moments notice and install himself as the President of Cuba after taunting the nation into the 20th century. At some point they’ve been ripe for change and we need to. pour gas on the fire.

California seems to have a never ending supply of Libs that are nationally known. Florida OTOH has no conservatives that I can think of and I’m a residennt of Florida.

Nobody seems to remember that DeSantis only won by 0.4% in 2018.

No doubt, damage has been done by desanctomonious. We want someone in there that is going to do the job. Not someone who just offers lip service to the state, and does real damage to MAGA at the behest of the deep state. I hope he rots in hell, I’ll never vote for him again.

LOL. No, it was the conservative movement that elected Ron DeSantis and it is that movement that is responsible for his career, not the other way around.

The dims will use RDS as a huge stick to punish any conservative Republican candidate. Especially after Charlie Crist exposed RDS intention to abandon his governorship in the debate. I really see a dim Governor in our future.

Desantis, in his disloyal and overweening ambition, has damaged not only his own political career, but his state’s future as well.

He won by 20% in 2022 because he cleaned up election fraud here.

You never voted for him. You were very upset Charlie Crist lost. You’ve always were upset or weirdly jealous of DeSantis.

Trump picked wrong when he endorsed Desantis over Putnam.
Putnam was focused on Florida, Desantis on a stepping stone.
Desantis has shown no loyalty or compassion for the residents of Florida. He’s more interested in New Yorkers and Californians.
