IMO, I think that describes most Leftists. They always think others are the eggs to be broken to make their tyrannical omlette, but never think that they will be raked up with all the rest.
They never stop to think that admission to the Inner Party is a limited item. Even if an upper class has to be manufactured out of Leftist ideology, they can’t just let everyone into that “upper class”. And everyone who isn’t in that upper class, no matter how dedicated to some cause they are, is ripe to be picked to be sent off to some gulag or to simply be executed.
They are always astonished that it is them who are picked. They will be puzzled, then angered as they tell the thugs taking them away that “I am on your side! Why are you doing this?”
