The family had idealized Scandinavia, believing that Sweden was 'a utopia with happy people, gorgeous nature, and world-class schools.'There is no utopia, not in Sweden, or Scandinavia, or anywhere else. There is better and there is worse. If nothing else they got to spend two years in Europe and that couldn't hurt their daughter. Culturally expanding.

And that is the highly ironic definition of "utopia." Utopia means, literally, "no place," since it was formed from the Greek ou, meaning "no, not," and topos, "place."
