Hamas would not have attacked Israel without assurance from Hezbollah and Iran that they would have their back. The U.S. pours naval assets into the eastern Mediterranean and they blink, as do Turkey and Syria. Russia and China have apparently decided they were not ready to take on the collective West at this point. They conveyed that message to Turkey and Iran, neither of which want to enter the fray without assurance from the Communist powers.
