In the 60s, the Jordanians were allies.
Still?
In 2004 or 2005, a senior salesman from my company (let’s call him Joe) was in Riyadh, marketing to top brass in the Jordanian military. One afternoon Joe was about to return to his hotel when one of the senior govt people insisted that Joe join him for dinner.
Thirty minutes later, a terrorist drove his car into the hotel lobby and set off a large car bomb.
I’ve always suspected that the Jordanian govt official had foreknowledge of the bombing.
I visited Jordan in ‘99 soon after the border was open.
You could see it in their eyes.
The locals hated me with everything they had.
I’m sure they thought I was Jewish.
The guides at Petra were very nice but most likely because I brought $$$.
Between the fees and bribes, Petra was the most expensive 1 day trip I had ever been on.
Shocking but it WAS worth it.
