Arafat was never serious about peace. He had to go along with the charade to give his side the time they needed to rearm and attack Israel with the ultimate aim of conquering the whole country.
I guess Bill Clinton was naive because he's a Democrat. But now he has learned the hard way and a two state solution is not possible because the Arab Muslims are not interested in it.

Even if Arafat had been serious about peace, instead of just pretending to be, he couldn't deliver for Palestinians in exile (he might have improved conditions for those living in the West Bank and Gaza) so he might have suffered Sadat's fate if he had really made a peace agreement.
After more than 70 years, the Palestinians living in other Arab countries are still regarded as outsiders, except in Jordan. I don't think Jordan has the ability to absorb all the Palestinians not currently living in the West Bank, and the other Arab countries don't want them.
ABBAS has followed the same path as ARAFAT.
