He’s not wrong. It’s not just homosexuality itself, but what it represented.

As with Sodom and Gomorrah, there were many sins which constituted their iniquity, with homsex being the capstone of physical sins which led to climatic judgment, yet all flowed from the gross idolatry of reprobate souls.

During what period did Rome tolerate Jews, even extending Roman citizenship to Jews; and, during what period did Rome throw Jews as well as Christians to the lions?

I've never heard that Romans tossed Jews to the lions, but they lost many of their privileges, and even their homes and liberty, after their rebellions, the final one (the Bar Kokhba revolt) ending in A.D. 136.

Christians had an opposite trajectory. Jews initially enjoyed more privileges, but were eventually more persecuted. Christians were more persecuted, but eventually became the official religion.

Everybody has the right to pursue their pleasures and meaning. However, for society to survive, it has to have a common narrative to hold it together. In America’s case, everything works as long as the context is a Christian one.

When that is lost, America is lost.

That's not satire.

The expression thrown to the lions might be something of a euphemism. Like brokers throwing themselves out of windows of tall buildings following the Stock Market Crash of 1929. It doesn’t take many to make an impression. Revisionist historians downplay the number of Christians tossed to the lions; but, there were some, and this was merely the most dramatic form of the persecution of the early church. The number of Jews thrown to the lions following the Jewish Revolts, plural, and following the establishment of Christianity by Constantine may likewise be few. Nevertheless there were some, and, as you say, Rome turned on the Jews.

“Instead of throwing Christians to the lions they threw non-Christians to the lions.”

When a political entity persists for hundreds of years, lots of things change. The entity may shift from a Republic to an Empire (your original correction of me), Jews may go from a tolerated minority to a persecuted minority (my tit for tat). To return to my original point, Rome declined over several hundred years in the west, and over a much longer time in the east. Focusing on the west, the decline involved a lot of things, among them moral decay. Eventually, the common people of the west were turned into serfs, persisting in that status until the 19th Century in Eastern Europe. We see a similar decline nowadays in this country and in the west generally speaking. Though there is opportunity for revival - and we have had revivals before - our risk is that we will join the martyrs and others persecuted in the past. Indeed, some of us have already joined with them. This is the sense in which I invoked the cry, “I am Spartacus.”

Wow. From 2013 Should've been posted.

And which seems to be a result of what this 2002 post warned of:

The Bible as 'hate literature' Canadians advance bill hate crimes (Is America Next?) WorldNetDaily.com ^ | October 21, 2002 | Art Moore

Posted on 10/21/2002, 1:16:33 AM by USA21 The Bible as 'hate literature'? Canadians advance bill that chills speech about homosexuality A prison sentence for quoting the Bible in Canada? Holy Scriptures treated as "hate literature"? That could happen if a proposed bill is passed by Parliament, according to opponents who believe it would criminalize public expression against homosexual behavior.

And Whatcott has quite a history of dissent: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Whatcott

The latest seems to be

The Ontario Court of Appeal has ordered a new hate-speech trial for the anti-gay activist who distributed homophobic flyers at the Toronto Pride Parade. [anyone who engages in the wanton homophobic slur evidences Christophobia, based upon the same premise that opposition equates to irrational fear]

In 2016, William Whatcott applied under a fake name to march in the Toronto Pride Parade. During the parade, rather than promoting sexual health education as Whatcott’s group claimed was the plan in their application, they handed out flyers warning of the dangers of the “homosexual lifestyle.” A parade attendee reported Whatcott, and police charged him with one count of hate speech for wilfully promoting hatred against gay men in violation of s. 319(2) of the Criminal Code... The trial judge acquitted Whatcott, and the Crown appealed on three grounds. One was that the judge erred in excluding evidence from an expert on anti-gay discrimination.....
The Crown argued that criticism against sexual practices inherent to a group’s identity is equivalent to promoting the destruction of that group, says Hatim Kheir, who represented Free to Care.

Which means that by criticism against free speech practices inherent to pro-Bible, anti-LGBTQ conservative group’s identity is equivalent to promoting the destruction of that group. Which means the real argument is that the destruction of the pro-Bible is warranted, versus a group practicing what is abundantly evidenced to be deleterious to individuals and society.

In the 2013 case, the argument was:

“[Whatcott’s] expression portrays the targeted group as a menace that could threaten the safety and well-being of others, makes reference to respected sources (in this case the Bible) to lend credibility to the negative generalizations, and uses vilifying and derogatory representations to create a tone of hatred,” the panel ruled on Wednesday

So what if a consensual Christian practice, such as holding hands in prayer, historically was responsible for approx. 80% of new HIV cases among men, 90% among young men, and close to 70% of all new HIV cases (despite only only constituting a small % of society, and only approximately 7% of adult and adolescent males having reported having had male-to-male sexual contact at some point in their lives)?

In addition to which resulting a greatly increased incidence of other infectious diseases  and effects besides HIV,  from Meningitis to  premature death.  Which diseases includes Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis A and B, HPV, Syphilis, HIV to Meningitis and body dysmorphia and eating disorders and recently Monkey pox. Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men have accounted for 83% of primary and secondary syphilis cases where sex of sex partner was known in the United States. Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men have been found to be 17 times more likely to get anal cancer than heterosexual men. (https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/71/wr/mm7138a1.htm) More here https://peacebyjesuscom.blogspot.com/2019/10/negative-effects-of-homosexual.html to help combat this, by the grace of God.

Ephesians 5:11-13

11 Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.
13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself.

Not a historical scholar but have noticed that civilizations disintegrate once deviant behavior becomes blatant. Mocking God never, ever turns out well.

Fall of Roman Empire caused by ‘contagion of homosexuality’

A prominent Italian historian has claimed that the Roman Empire collapsed because a “contagion of homosexuality and effeminacy” made it easy pickings for barbarian hordes, sparking a furious row.

https://web.archive.org/web/20110411110025/https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/italy/8438210/Fall-of-Roman-Empire-caused-by-contagion-of-homosexuality.html

08 Apr 2011

Roberto De Mattei, 63, the deputy head of the country’s National Research Council, claimed that the empire was fatally weakened after conquering Carthage, which he described as “a paradise for homosexuals”.

The fall of the Roman Empire was a result of “the effeminacy of a few in Carthage, a paradise for homosexuals, who infected the many.

“The abhorrent presence of a few gays infected a good part of the (Roman) people,” Prof Mattei told Radio Maria, a Catholic radio station.

The Roman Republic achieved domination over Carthage, in present-day Tunisia, during the Punic Wars of the third and second centuries BC, during which Hannibal made his ultimately abortive crossing of the Alps with war elephants.

After the third and final Punic War, Carthage fell into Roman hands, followed by most of the other dependencies of the Carthaginian Empire.

Prof Mattei claimed that it was as the capital of Rome’s North African provinces that Cartagena became a hotbed of sexual perversion, gradually influencing Rome itself, which eventually fell to barbarian tribes in 410AD.

“Today we live in an era in which the worst vices are inscribed in law as human rights. “Every evil must have its punishment, either in our times or in the afterlife.”
