The AOS changed one bird’s name because it was named after a ornithologist that served the Confederacy. I can’t wait until the holier than thou racists get to hear the MLK,Jr. tapes and the world finds out who he really was and see if their holier than thou world can handle that.

It’s not those old tapes that could do MLK in.

MLK thought homosexuality was a mental disorder, and in his writings he advised gays to seek psychiatric help. If that ever became widespread public knowledge, would the LGBTQ crowd demand that all streets named after MLK be renamed?

Not a confederate.

The Scott’s Oriole, a black-and-yellow bird, was named after Winfield Scott, a Civil War general known for overseeing the forced relocation of Indigenous peoples in 1838 - which is now known as the Trail of Tears.

He was Chief of Staff of the US Army in 1861. Despite being a Virginia native, Scott stayed loyal to the Union when the Civil War broke out and served as an important adviser to President Abraham Lincoln during the opening stages of the war.
