Thursday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), a candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, said he would not support the GOP nominating former President Donald Trump if he is convicted.
“You did say, Governor, at that August debate when the question was put to the entire panel if Donald Trump is convicted, will you still — and he is the nominee, would you still support him?” co-host Willie Geist said. “And you raised your hand. You’re a lawyer. You served in the Navy. You were well-trained at the greatest schools. Do you really believe that a man who’s convicted of, say, attempting to overturn the 2020 election or taking nuclear secrets back to his beach club, do you actually still, as we sit here today, believe that person should be president?”
“So I signed a pledge, Willie and that pledge is what it is,” DeSantis replied. “Now, do I think somebody under those circumstances could get elected president? The answer is no. That will not happen. I think that Republican voters will understand that as we get closer to voting. But it is — it would be fatal in a general election, and I don’t think the party should — should nominate in that situation. However, you know, I signed the pledge. I’m a Republican. I don’t think it’s going to come to that, and I think we’ll be — we’ll get the job done like we need to, but the reality is I signed it, and that’s what I did.”
“So, you stand by that this morning?” Geist said.

Hi sole reason for saying this is: He thinks if Trump is knocked out, it will give him a lift.
What a heel.
Convicted of what?? Misposting invoices to the ledger, which is what he is being charged with in New York.
Or possession of documents he was fully empowered to have in his possession??
Or vague charges of conspiracy with people he had never met?
Etc.
“He thinks if Trump is knocked out, it will give him a lift.
What a heel.”
You’re on fire!
hmmmmm....It almost seems as if the deepstate actors are afraid of Trumps election, but I digress!
A lift?
He’s at 8%. His entire strategy is trump goes to jail
The real DeSantos has been exposed as a vile poser...Even those drooling in cups seem to be getting it.
Are you Trump supporters sore winners? Are you trying to convince DeSantis supporters to sit at home on November 5, 2024? If so, you are doing a great job.
We see what you did there. Glorious!
Trump is under attack by the lowest scum in the country. They want to cheat to keep him off the ballot.
Euripides — ‘When a good man is hurt, all who would be called good must suffer with him.’
due to envy (a sin) and selfishness DeSantis is hoping to capitalize.
I didn’t used to hate DeSantis. Just sorry for him.
No More.
He thinks if Trump is knocked out, it will give him a lift.“
That ship sailed, in fact he sunk it.
And therefore what?
Trump won’t be going to jail but if he’s convicted of a felony, he will not be elected president. We’d be handing the White House again to the Democrats. DeSantis understands this.
A felon Trump as our nominee will be a catastrophe for the Republican Party.
not at all since everyone knows this is a political prosecution 100%
Plus I don’t think he will be convicted of any major crime, and will win on appeal to basically anything he is convicted of.
DeSantis is a puppet of the establishment. He has been bought and paid for.
Desnatis wrong if a conviction is being appealed to SCOTUS, and may be wrong even if not that.
Bitter scum.
I’ll simply write Trump’s name in every election until I die, even if he’s dead. The GOP can go punt. I left that party after January 6th, and will never return.
You stay home with your posters of McConnell, Ryan, Cheney, and Kinzinger.
Makes you wonder just what kind of advice lawyer DeSantis gave those SEALS he was assigned to in Iraq.
