Sen. Daines to Rest of GOP Field: Drop Out, Coalesce Behind Trump for President
Breitbart ^ | 28 Oct 2023 | MATTHEW BOYLE

National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) chairman Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) is calling on everyone but former President Donald Trump to drop out of the 2024 GOP presidential primary and coalesce behind Trump.

“I was surprised, but I think that’s the right move,” Daines said, according to Politico, when former Vice President Mike Pence dropped out of the race on Saturday at the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

NEW: NRSC Chairman Steve Daines, who is backing trump, said Trump’s rivals should drop out and coalesce, following Pence’s suspension

“it’s clear President Trump is going to be the nominee” https://t.co/NsFcdCHHUU

— Alex Isenstadt (@politicoalex) October 28, 2023

“Because it’s clear President Trump is going to be the nominee for Republicans for president, and the sooner we coalesce around him the better it’s going to be,” Daines added.

Daines has already endorsed Trump, but this is a significant escalation from one of the party’s top leaders in the Senate. As NRSC chairman, Daines oversees party spending and resources decisions on U.S. Senate races—and has been very active in recruiting key Senate candidates nationwide as Republicans embark on an effort to retake the majority in the upper chamber of Congress.

Calling for the other Republicans like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and more to drop out of the race and coalesce behind Trump—and predicting Trump will be the GOP nominee—is an even bigger move than just endorsing Trump. It’s a party heavyweight aiming to steer the conversation towards what almost everyone believes to be inevitable,

. . . . . but many in donor-connected circles and establishment consultant enclaves refuse to thus far admit: Trump will be the GOP nominee for president again for the third straight presidential election.

They’re wasting their money on the dwarves.

This is patently stupid to do on purpose.

They might have more nefarious reasons, but usually good old fashioned stupidity is normal for the GOP.

Nobody is even talking about Biden not being on the Dem Primary ballot in NH.

Only DeSantis should stay in and be ready to take the mantle from Trump as he is carted of for a stay behind bars.

That's not how politics works. The number 2 slot is worth having for several reasons. If something should happen to Trump than the #2 slot becomes the #1 slot.

He's old. He could die or become disabled. The cumulative effect of lots of convictions could begin to cut into his popularity, or at least that's what the people in the race are hoping. Lots of things could happen.

People bet against the favorite in Football all the time, the odds are good, but your chances of winning are not good. Still, if it pays off it pays off big.

I agree with Sen. Daines. The GOP primary season is essentially over, even though no votes have yet been cast. Like him or not, Trump will be the nominee. So let’s play it smart, for once. Let’s take a page from the Democrats, and unite.

I do wonder about the #2 slot being worth having. Should something bad happen to Trump quite soon, maybe. But close to the convention, no. Trump’s delegates would become free agents. They would be under no obligation to vote for the #2 slot.

Ok...
Now there’s no doubt of the outcome.
It’s our turn.
Primary all of the bush league chamber of commerce worshipping republiCAN’Ts and install, then elect, MAGA representative and senators.
It’s up to the guy in the mirror.
Does he have the balls to do what needs to be done?

You are correct. Biden is not on the 2024 New Hampshire primary ballot. But that’s evidently due to some dust-up within the Democrat Party. It really has nothing to do with Biden himself.

The DNC said that South Carolina should go first. No, said New Hampshire. We are going first. Biden’s team is following DNC’s wishes, and so they did not file in New Hampshire’s primary.

I’ve also read that the DNC will not recognize New Hampshire’s convention delegates. I don’t know if that part is true or not.

Most MAGA voters won’t vote for MEATBALL under any circumstance.
Foolish for you to think Ronnie will just “Inherit” MAGA voters.

Chris Christi needs to shut his fat mouth and coalesce. We can work our problems out.

Let’s go ahead and actually hold a primary vote or two. If Trump does as well as the polls suggest, the other candidates will drop out by themselves, without prompting. But right now, there’s no reason for the other candidates to drop out - opinion polls aren’t votes.

That is true..now. Ron would have but he met with the GOPe, after that he sounded like Linda, Barr and Pelosi. Bye bye Ron. One of the worst campaigns ever without a doubt

Then they aren't conservatives - they're just fans, as devoted to Trump as Taylor Swift's fans are to her. I'll go with whoever the most conservative candidate in the general is - if Trump has the nomination, he's got my vote and I'll do my utmost to persuade everyone I know to vote for him too, same as 2016 and 2020. Same for DeSantis or any other proven conservative.

The way President Trump keeps dominating primary polling offers a positive #Narrative, it's red meat for a MAGA crew that wants daily red meat.

DeSantis' donors will probably give him until after Iowa, or maybe Florida. Then they will roll it up for the President and we will all sing kumbayah and Trump will have the pleasure of punching down on the Sea Island Dooshbaggers by explicitly rejecting DeSantis as VP.

I voted for Trump twice. I’m voting for Ron De Santis now.

First reason is because RDS is a true staunch conservative who always delivers results and ignores leftist rhetoric. The other reason is because I lost faith in Trump mostly because of his deep state hires and the petulant name calling.

Trump lost millions of supporters when he spewed like a two year old about Ron DeSanctamonious before the November midterms. DeSantis still won by 20 points of course, so Trumps childish name calling did nothing except destroy his own chances. Florida was also the only state which had a red wave in 2022.

Should the unlikely happen and somebody needs to replace Trump before the election, the pick should be somebody MAGA, not Meathead or one of the seven dwarfs.
