Please explain to me how explaining the science equates to having a leftist ideology.

Please explain why belief in conspiracy theories and antivax/ anti-science/ anti-medical rhetoric is inherently conservative.

And since you called me a communist, please go back through my posting history and tell me where I have ever advocated elimination of free-speech, overturning the Constitution, state ownership of businesses, or any of the other hallmarks of a totalitarian society.

And no, supporting vaccines and other public-health measures is not an indication of totalitarianism. Governments throughout human history have always promoted public health. Being disease-free because your government mandated for you to get a vaccine does not impinge on freedom. Do you consider it a statement of freedom to catch a disease, be sick, feel horrible, and potentially die?

RE: Please explain to me how explaining the science equates to having a leftist ideology.

I am not against your explaining the science. I of course, disagree with some of your INTERPRETATION of the data.

But what concerns me ( and I suspect a lot of FReeers ) most is your PREFERRED POLICY when it comes THIS PARTICULAR mRNA vaccines. One that came out of an EUA with not even 5 years of THOROUGH testing before approval.

I don’t know what your voting priorities are, but based on what I read about what you want for the American public in regards to this particular mRNA vaccines, YOU SUPPORT JOE BIDEN’s POLICIES and are AGAINST TRUMP’s POLICIES.

If this particular issue is top priority for you, then I cannot help but conclude that you will vote for another Joe Biden term.

Thank you for trying to explain the science and refute the misinformation and for putting up with the ridiculous amount of abuse you get for it. I hope you keep posting although it seems like a thankless task. You are not likely to get through to many here but perhaps to a few.

While most movies do a poor job of explaining the science of a pandemic, a zoonotic virus outbreak, one that did reasonably well was the 2011 movie Contagion. This doctor (3 years ago) does a pretty good job of reviewing the movie - what it gets right and wrong and how it relates to COVID-19.

What I found most interesting was the Jude Law character. That character was exactly what we see today with the social media medical misinformation stream, the mistrust of actual science and the peddling of fake cures.

The virus in the movie is based on the Nipah virus. Fortunately, the Nipha virus is not airborne except in extreme close quarters, but it has a fatality rate of 40% to 70%. But as we know, viruses tend to mutate.

I remember watching several documentaries on the 1918 influenza pandemic in the early 2000’s. I recall one where a virologist said something to the effect that “it is not a matter of if, but when the next deadly global pandemic will occur.” It may have been Dr. Fauci.

We’ve long known that “wet markets” in Asia (and not just in China) were incubation laboratories for novel viruses. The trade in exotic wild animals for food, the mixing of various animals, domestic and wild, live and dead - all in close proximity, the unsanitary conditions.

That and the deforestation of rainforests and jungles where many bats live, previously in isolation but are now forced to inhabit areas populated with people and farms, especially pig farms. The perfect laboratory for the jump of animal viruses to people.
