I think Stefanik is supposed to do the official nomination.

McKarthy objected to a roll call vote. He convinced about 30 or so to write his name in. Came time to vote out loud and Kevin got zero votes. I think maybe they are uniting.

We will know when Sniffer comes out and blames MAGA Americans.

Romney is criticizing him, so that is a plus for him.

Well, Johnson has a Liberty score of 74% as opposed to McCarthy at 54% so hopefully he gets to 217.

I noticed when she mentioned the motto In God We Trust, all the republicans stood and applauded. The Dems all sat on their hands

UPDATE 12:51 p.m. ET:
A total of 429 members are present. One Republican is absent and three Democrats are. That means Johnson needs 215 votes to win.

I am not taking any position on Mike Johnson.
My position is they need to elect a speaker, period, be it Johnson or whomever, any GOP member for all I care, just get it over and move on.
The purists on either side will still have plenty of chances to be obstinate when votes on legislation come before them, but meanwhile just elect a speaker, period.
