Former President Donald Trump is distancing himself from attorney Sidney Powell in the wake of her guilty plea in the Georgia election interference case.
“Sidney Powell was one of millions and millions of people who thought, and in ever increasing numbers still think, correctly, that the 2020 Presidential Election was RIGGED & STOLLEN," Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday.
"Despite the Fake News reports to the contrary, and without even reaching out to ask the Trump Campaign, MS. POWELL WAS NOT MY ATTORNEY, AND NEVER WAS," he wrote.

Eric Segall, a law professor at Georgia State University, told NBC News that Trump’s assertion about Powell “is another example of Trump re-writing history and changing facts for his own purposes.”
Segall also said on the social media platform X that the assertion wasn't helpful to Trump's cause. "So much for any claims of attorney/client privilege. Not smart," he wrote.
That's a reference to a privilege that protects private communications between attorneys and their clients. *** Trump once touted Powell's involvement in the election-related case while he was challenging the election results in the days after his loss.
"I look forward to Mayor Giuliani spearheading the legal effort to defend OUR RIGHT to FREE and FAIR ELECTIONS! Rudy Giuliani, Joseph diGenova, Victoria Toensing, Sidney Powell , and Jenna Ellis, a truly great team, added to our other wonderful lawyers and representatives!" he tweeted on Nov. 14, 2020.
Five days later, Giuliani held a press conference with those attorneys, including Powell, at RNC headquarters in Washington. "We're representing President Trump and the Trump campaign," Giuliani said then.

To you, maybe it looks like that. How it could, I have no idea.
I don’t recall her being on with Rush but I was probably listening.
Hire her may be easy to find. As for paid her, that generally is a no.
That's because you're a legend in your own mind.
From my memory this is what seemed to happen in 2020.
1. Trump’s legal team knew and expected cheating would occur, but were were greatly unprepared. Bluntly, they were incompetent.
2. Flynn and and Powell were introduced to the team but proposed measures that were opposed by Trump’s legal team and thought too radical. Trump’s legal team likely though these actions could lead to Trump being arrested and impeached. He was anyway. Anyone else besides Trump would not have survived the legal and media onslaught that occurred after the election.
3. Giuliani was frequently drunk.
4. Giuliani, Mark Meadows and others on Trumps legal team tried to isolate Trump and proposed to fight the election fraud in the courts. They lost badly without any court hearing the evidence.
5. I think the Flynn, Patrick, and Powell’s option of a limited Martial law was the better, although dangerous.
0)The nation’s white shoe law firms colluded/conspired to blackball/disbar anyone representing Trump-same best and brightest that couldn’t get to Gitmo fast enough pro bono.
Okay soooo, to you it looks like I was being the Devil’s advocate for the media “because” you say that I’m a legend in my own mind. Fine, go ahead and run with it. I’ve got no skin in that game.
Correct. So the “never was” is a bit problematic.
You are arguing with someone who believes it is “playing nice with the Left” *not* to believe Stacey Abrams is the rightful governor of Georgia.
Good description. Once again Trump is his own worse enemy and fails the loyalty test. He is at heart a politician.
Sidney Powell words and value are worthless just another yakking dame the democrats love to parade them.
Obviously you do, or you wouldn't have bothered to try to run defense for the media.
Duly noted.
You’re harder to follow than JoeBiden.
Good ole Trump being Trump. It’s why a majority of Americans think he lies. Let’s see if DJT or others use Attorney-Client privilege in court filings with Miss Kraken. Any bets? I bet he does. It may not matter, her discussions with Trump are likely admissible against Trump, even if hearsay, as admissions or plans in furtherance of a conspiracy.
mass55th: Why are you being the devil’s advocate for the media?
equaviator: To you, maybe it looks like that. How it could, I have no idea.

mass55th - do you honestly think you are making any sense at all? The poster is questioning the veracity of why the media was fawning over Powell at one time and you claim that is playing devil’s advocate / running defense for the media? What in the world?
Though this is par for the course with you, unfortunately. Like that time you claimed I was advocating for “playing nice with the Left” when I questioned the veracity of claiming Stacey Abrams was the rightful governor of Georgia. Makes zero sense. Zero.
It is for Trump
Apparently you didn’t get it either, because anyone who has to wonder why the media does anything to make Trump look bad, makes me question their intelligence, and common sense. And if you’ll check equaviator’s original comment, there is no use of the word “veracity.” That’s something you added on your own.
Maybe you need a class in reading comprehension to make sense of my comments.
