A Brea, California man, who was recently released from prison, as well as his daughter, were arrested and charged for their involvement in the alleged fatal stabbing of a man over his Rolex watch.
The Newport Beach Police Department said officers responded to a 911 call at about 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 30, for a man on the ground and bleeding.
When officers arrived on the scene at 34th Street and Seashore Drive, they located 46-year-old Robert Tamaccio from Newport Beach who appeared to have been stabbed.

I live in a very safe area and I am starting to wonder if I should be wearing mine.
I’ve got a vintage GMT which has really gone up in the last few years. So much so that I am starting to think about wearing it in public.
But it is a good inflation hedge.
I have the exact same watch, rarely ever wear it for precisely this reason.
It’s a shame.
This one is hard to miss.

It’s sad to have to say it, but you are right to wonder that. Stick with a cheap watch. It will give you the time as well as any Rolex.
Quick story. A friend of mine ran his own small business. He usually carried a large amount of money, and often flashed it. He’d never admit it, but it was his way of showing everyone that he made good in the world.
Well, the predictable happened. The word got around, and two urban youths robbed my friend. One hit him with a hammer while the other went through his pockets. Both thieves are now in prison. And years later my friend still has health issues.
It’s not Eisenhower’s America any more.

I bought a fake Rolex watch in Taiwan many years ago. Gold, fake diamonds, totally over-the-top. It needed winding every 15 minutes.
I wasn’t home and my apartment got broken-into in sh**hole Washington DC. That and a DVD player were the only thing taken. The perp probably thought he was set for life.

Where did you keep your real Rolex?
I could afford a nice car, but my 2007 rusted Toyota Truck with 250K miles still runs fine. I’m in “the city” a lot, and its great camouflage. No one messes with it, and if they did, I wouldn’t care.
My watches are worth more than my cars, LOL !
Although my old Mercedes wagon and GSR Integra are starting to jump in price.
yeah don’t think they’re going to be rocking Aldens, on a side note, I wear all my watches, where ever, including Rolex, thats what I bought them for.
If carry was legal in my jurisdiction, maybe I would go that way.
It is safe for now, but the trajectory is in the wrong direction.
I hear ya and understand, carry is legal in my jurisdiction, and I always do, hence, I guess the cavalier attitude of wearing any of my watches.
