What if, at least, there was an independent, third-party entity who created a series of tests that determines minimum competency (as defined by employers) in critical areas that employers, at their choosing, could require employees to take as part of the interview process?

Substandard colleges and their substandard graduates would quickly be identified for the world to see.

That's precisely what the teacher competency test, the PPST, I took (and passed) was designed to do.

Now we have a critical shortage of teachers.
