I love VDH, but dislike his use of the term McCarthyite here. Otherwise a very good piece.
The history (including that in Soviet archives) shows us that McCarthy was largely correct. And we should have been running Communists and Communist-sympathizers out of prominent positions in government, industry, media.

I was around then. It was not his perspective that was wrong, it was his methods. You don’t intimidate American citizens to prove or confess they are or are not Communists.
