So you’re just going to call every person who would prefer a candidate for Speaker who does not have a criminal past a “racist” (or, more precisely, a “RACIST!”)? Why do you think that expecting more from the person who would be the Republican with the highest federal office is “racist”? If anyone is being racist, it’s those who hold blacks to a lower standard than other public servants. I’ve donated to the campaigns of dozens of black conservative Republicans through the years, and I’ve done so holding them to the same standards as I’ve held any other candidate; I’m not going to start judging people based on the color of their skin now because some hysterical FReeper calls me a “racist.”
And I’m glad that Donalds has turned his life around and no longer distributes drugs or is involved in bank fraud. I’m not even saying that he shouldn’t serve in Congress—that’s up to his constituents, and they seem to be fine with his past. But if the past couple of weeks have proven anything, it’s that it won’t be easy to get 217 Republicans to vote for *any* Speaker, and running someone with baggage is an unforced error, particularly when there are perfectly good candidates without a criminal record from which to choose.
Again, why go with Donalds instead of with Kevin Horn? Horn would have a better chance of getting 217 votes, and then of getting stuff done as Speaker, than would Donalds.
Horn=Hern
So you have no enforced errors? No embarrassing moments or skeletons in the closet? I just need to re-examine my Christian faith.
Sorry...dont believe you.
