You can't whip 218 votes AGAINST a sitting speaker while that speaker is in power. The plan was to vacate McCarthy and then whip up the vote and try to win. Gaetz lost absolutely nothing trying.
McHenry = McCarthy. They are both part of the establishment uniparty. We are simply back to where we were before Gaetz heroically tried to change the GOP leadership that is destroying our country.
There were 50+ GOPers who voted against Jordan behind closed doors in Conference, yes only about 20 voted against him on the floor in each of the two votes, but the names rotated - and the others were willing to flip their votes back and forth to give each other cover as they worked together to kill the nomination.
I think the solid majority of the members of the house have no real principles, and of the minority, the majority of them have mostly bad principles.
Of the rump within the rump, most of them still have serious flaws.
The system is broken.
The GOP leadership has shifted too far left. There’s already a liberal party and there’s no need for two. I’d like to see a genuine conservative party emerge; but, I’m not holding my breath.

Never. Look at the mess this country is in and realize the GOPe brought us here every step of the way going back decades. We can’t start over until the uniparty is wiped out. Many of these turncoats will pull a Spector and run as a dem, they’ll lose to real marxists and we’ll never see them again.
Not only that, but they will damage the entire party just to preserve their own personal advantages. At the least the Democrats are smart enough to stick together to work on their devious plans.

Agreed. Several are coalescing around the idea that it wasn’t necessarily bad to do this but he did it with no plan. Now we are in a cluster as a result of no plan.
