Bolsonaro lost a close election to Lula da Silva, a hardline Socialist and convicted money launderer.
Election fraud was claimed by Bolsonaro and millions of his supporters.
A rowdy pro-Bolsonaro rally in Brasilia has been declared an attempted coup d'etat, and many Bolsonaro supporters have been sentenced to long prison terms.
Bolsonaro was riding out the storm in Miami when Biden refused to extend his six month visa and sent him back to Brazil, where he was instantly placed under house arrest.
As far as I know, not one Republican lifted a finger to help Bolsonaro, who has done nothing wrong, except claim election fraud.

I agree, but even the best laid plans don’t always work out. In this case, Biden’s bunch figured that if they got rid of Bolsonaro, since Bolsonaro reminded them of Trump and Lula would be a nice, easy, puppet to work with - just like the leaders of Europe.
