That’s nuts. Right now, we’re close to where we were when McCarthy failed the FIRST of his FIFTEEN FREAKING VOTES. Recall, he went on to WIN the speaker vote.
I agree. Somehow it was ok to run fifteen votes on McCarthy, but people are talking about a "plan B" or counting Jim Jordan out before the completion of one. Should we get to at least like twelve before deciding a stalemate?

Hopefully.
I posted some links for analysis of Bacon’s District. (+6.5% for Biden in 2022). Can someone do the same for the rest of the non-Jordan Pubbie votes?. I just can’t stay by the computer much more this afternoon.

.the public vote does make it crystal clear as to who needs to be primariedWhy do you think the Republicans who blocked Jordan are unpopular in their districts?
Sure, you can "primary them", and if you do enough damage get them replaced by communists - but in their districts, all of them are likely the best you can hope for.

If those idiots don’t watch out they will have Pelosi clone Jefferies as speaker and they will regret it for the rest of their lives…..

We need a Speaker of the House as that person is 2nd in line for president if something happens.

Somebody needs to do to the Republicans what the Republicans did to the Whigs.
The Republicans did such a good job of replacing the Whigs that they have become the Whigs.
Their only principle is to have no principles.
Their only strategy is preemptive surrender.
Their only plan for victory is to pee off their base as much as possible.
They have a virtually infinite capacity to learn teh wrong lesson from any situation.
When the Democrats are in charge, it’s as if we’re going off the cliff at 100 miles per hour. At least the Republicans drive the speed limit — but we’re still going off the cliff.
We need to turn the car around.
Jordan seems to be the kind who will try to turn it around, or at least hit the breaks. That’s exactly why the Uniparty RINOs cannot allow him to be Speaker.
Keep calling.

If they fail to elect a Speaker, the media will be howling and then only 5 Republicans would need to decide to "act responsibly" and "reach across the aisle" to make Jeffries Speaker - which is what I think will happen.
No way is Jeffries the Speaker.
The more probable "reach across the aisle" scenario is that the Democrats acknowledge that the Republicans have the majority, so the compromise candidate is a Republican. Possibilities: a known RINO (like Don Bacon), a back-bench Republican who hasn't had time to make a lot of enemies yet, or someone not even in the House now. In that last category, I heard former Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) mentioned.
In return, the Dems get certain commitments. The new Speaker might agree to bring the Senate's spending bills to a vote in the House, no amendments, just up-or-down vote. Then the Dems could try to pass the bill by picking up a few RINO votes.
Some Dems, like AOC, would never vote for a Republican for Speaker. The conservative Republicans would never vote for a candidate who made these concessions. The deal might get done with some Democrats and some Republicans, adding up to 217.

The current President pro tempore of the Senate is Patty Murray, second in line behind Kamala Harris as long as there is no Speaker.

“Why do you think the Republicans who blocked Jordan are unpopular in their districts?”
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that it’s because they represent districts with maybe 40% Republicans, 40% Democrats, and 20% Independents. I’m pretty sure the 2023 Speaker drama didn’t have much bearing on the contests they won in 2022.
To: HamiltonJay
Wow, would you look at that. 16 votes for “Other.” And all of them GOP votes that should have gone for Jordan. Traitors every single one of them.
