The Supreme Court made a huge mistake hearing that case, and we are still paying for it.

No the Florida Supremes were dead set on stealing the election, they made the mistake, what we are paying for is the Bush family's legacy.

If you know your Constitution, you should know that if Article II, Amendment XII and the Electoral Count Act had all been followed, George W. Bush would have become President by perfectly legal and Constitutional means. There was no path for Gore to become President, no matter what SCOFLA did or didn’t do.

If the Constitution were followed, there was a small but non-zero possibility that Joe Lieberman would have become Vice President. In light of the Iraq and Afghanistan disasters, it’s unclear whether that would have been a good thing or not.

The courts were excluded from the electoral system on purpose, by men much wiser than what we have today. If Bush v. Gore was not a nonjusticeable political question, then there is no such thing and we should just have the Supreme Court appoint the President and save all those campaign donations from being flushed down the toilet.
