The GOP is dysfunctional because the party doesn’t stand for anything. That is the more fundamental problem. The only reason people vote for them is that they’re the lesser of two evils.

Yes, with a two party system this is what we’re stuck with.
To win elections the R party must become disciplined, and loose coalitions must agree to coalesce around the party platform, hammered out and agreed to well before elections. Also, party mavericks must feel the heat for crossing party lines.
And the only reason I registered as a Republican is because Utah has a closed primary.
