Americans say, by two to one majority, that Biden should never have unfrozen $6 billion of Iranian funds in prisoner swap deal

Americans believe the Biden administration was wrong to unfreeze $6 billion of Iranian assets in a prisoner swap deal last month, according to an exclusive DailyMail.com poll.

The issue has been in the headlines all week after Iranian proxy Hamas launched a bloody attack on Israel.

The money was quietly put off limits again this week after Republicans hammered the administration for being too soft on Iran.

Some 43 percent of Americans in our poll said unfreezing seized assets was the wrong thing to do, while 29 percent said it was right.

The results come from a poll of 1000 Americans conducted from Tuesday to Thursday by J.L. Partners.

'If Biden had not have re-frozen Iranian funds yesterday, he would have faced serious public pressure to do so,' said James Johnson, co-founder of J.L. Partners on Friday.

'Americans believe it was an error, particularly Republicans and the all-important voter group of independents, and a majority of Americans think it is probably or definitely the case that Iran was behind the attacks.

'In the weeks and months ahead, the American public clearly expects a hawkish response on Tehran.'

The Iranian oil revenues had been frozen in Seoul since 2019 after Washington imposed fresh sanctions under President Donald Trump.

But the money was moved to bank accounts in Qatar as part of a prisoner swap last month that freed five Americans held by Tehran. The terms meant that it could not be accessed by the Iranian government directly, and could only be used to meet humanitarian needs.

Now the way I see this poll is less that half polled said yes.

the rest said yes and the ones not sure? They are like the ones that said yes. They are young people who don't remember the Iranians under Jimmy Carter. Have no idea about Ayatollah Khomeini and probably could not find Iran on a world map.

I'd venture to say young people today have no idea about Iran and what they are dealing with.

They just figured it's some small shitty country and what is a few billion for lives of our people.

My personal opinion is that the terrorists that overthrew the Shah of Iran had no right to the money that was paid to the U.S., by the government of the Shah of Iran. That money was for military equipment that ended up not being delivered, due to the overthrow. The terrorists weren’t part of the Iranian government when that money was paid. They overthrew the Shah, took American hostages, and should have never been able to get their hands on that money, because it wasn’t their money to begin with.
