In response to the shooting death of a German embassy official by the name of Ernst Rath in Paris by a young Polish Jew Stormtroopers went on a rampage of smashing Jewish shop windows, burning synagogues, beating up Jews and deporting thousand of them to concentration camps. Officially 91 Jews were killed but the figure is said to be at least three times that number.
