This makes me assume Mitch McConnell was working behind the scenes to get his preference promoted. Quid pro quo, of some fashion. I’m disappointed. I thought we were on a roll to the next level up in partisan influence.

How ironic. After years of politely declining to run for a party leadership position, Jim Jordan does chose to go for it, only to be smacked back down by something that looks like a RINO.

Jordan ran for House Minority Leader in 2018 against McCarthy. He lost. The vote was 159-43.

The majority of Republicans in the House are moderates, not conservatives, and they will not vote for a conservative leader any more than Republican Senators.

Citizens who vote for a Republican politician in most cases are voting for status quo. Since Gingrich was forced out House Republicans have chosen Hastert, Boehner, Ryan, McCarthy, and now Scalise to lead them. Conservative leadership will not come from either Democrats or Republicans in the House or Senate. The only way there will be conservatives in charge of Congress is if a conservative third party is formed and convinces the electorate to put it in power.
