In the early dawn's orange glow, a Texas Rangers commander briefs a heavily armed invasion force.
They're preparing to seize a remote, 170-acre Mexican cartel-controlled island in the middle of the Rio Grande River overlooked by sniper nests and potentially booby-trapped.
Some of the dozens of assembled men shift from one foot to another or reposition their M-4 rifles as they listen to their commanders' instructions.
'Keep a close eye on those structures up there that have height advantage on us,' he warns.
'In case we do get engaged and someone is shot' medical evacuation plans are in place and there are blood bags if the wounded need a transfusion, he assures them.
Any questions?
This may seem like a scene from a far-flung warzone.
But it's just a glimpse of the hot war on America's southern border – a direct consequence of an out-of-control crisis that has resulted in nearly five million illegal migrants entering the United States since President Joe Biden was inaugurated in 2021

We did sanction the heck out of Venezuela.
We’re pirating bullets and and arms from Iranian ships.
Yes, in the Enforcer.
Bomb that island into a sandbar
Carpet bomb it or maybe a bunker buster.

Sigh............
They have been saying this for decades.
Our politicians have been bought off and threatened off by the cartels why does no one come out and say this.Lyndon Larouche: It is impossible for the drug cartel to exist without the cooperation of Banks, Courts, Politicians and Law Enforcement.
Why not just drop a MOAB on it and be done?
There were sanctions against Venezuela, but they were drops in the ocean regarding the country’s economic collapse. There is nobody marching up the continent because conservatives in the US supported sanctions against the criminal Marxist regime. They are marching because the criminal Marxist regime broke their country.
Oh, I agree Venezuela’s gov’t is likely the bigger factor, but, the sanctions were quite effective too. I see this result as the combination of 4 factors: Bad gov’t in Venezuela, the sanctions (justifiable, but a factor regardless), Mexico not stopping the illegals, and then the US basically waving illegals in. All 4 factors necessary to cause this result.
A few might be but the overwhelming majority are fleeing the communists. Every communist takeover eventually results in refugees. Every single one.
That is why communist governments, if they are called on it and embarrassed enough, often attempt to prevent escapes by force, as the Russian communists did in the days of the USSR by going to extremes of taking over other counties and installing hundreds of miles of razor wire, concrete, watch towers, land mines, and shooting their own citizens and imprisoning people for attempted escapes... as Cuba does by maintaining a fleet of boats and aircraft to kill escapees; as North Korea does to its extremes, as the Vietnamese did, and Cambodia, and Burma/Myanmar, and China...
So to think masses of Venezuelans and Nicaraguans are not fleeing communism is to deceive yourself.
Please note note my sarcasm tag on the post to which you respond.
That would do the job but would cost a lot more than 200, 120mm mortars.
A-10 Warthogs to the border...
They are starving because of the imperialist USA embargo against Venezuela - so we owe them. /s
That is precisely why good Americans should understand how to fight a war that has no defined fronts. The “front” is where the opportunity presents itself, allowing maximum pain to be inflicted upon the enemy - and then disappearing again into the crowd.
8. Silenced sniper rifles will do the job. If not, the old M249’s and M60s.
My son and son-in-law were snipers in Desert Storm and Op. Iraqi Freedom. They didn’t miss.
Sigh for the comment or the realization that it’s the truth?
