Is Matt Gaetz a hero or a villain?
The camera-loving Republican from Florida who threatened to shut down the government and who masterminded the ousting of Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday has made more than a few enemies in Congress.
He doesn’t care; he represents a district in Florida that hasn’t gone Democrat in decades and that went for former President Trump in 2020 by 68% to 29%. That means that in 2018, for instance, election gurus gave him 99% odds of being reelected, even though his approval rating was a dismal 20% -- worse than Joe Biden.

I sense a slight softening of your position as you move away from "collaborated with Democrats" towards "glad to accept support" from Democrats.
At least you backed off from suggesting overt actions on Gaetz' part to bring Democrats along to the more passive accepting their support.
Regarding that last part, was there really anything Gaetz could do about what the Democrats would do? Is "glad" the right word when it wouldn't have mattered if he was "mad" about it? Is even "accepting" the right word when there is no way to actually "accept" or "reject" the actions of the Democrats?
I'm guessing that your position is that Gaetz should have done nothing, because nothing then takes what the Democrats might do off the table. It's a slippery slope to suggest that any time the Democrats take action on their own to join Republicans on something, that it was the Republican who "collaborated" with the Democrats to make it happen.
The implication is that Republicans should never do anything first out of fear of being labeled a collaborator with Democrats.

Then respectfully, you need to recalibrate. I'm not backing away one bit.
Quite honestly, your defense of Gaetz is a distinction without a difference. Gaetz sided with Democrats over 96% of GOP House members. Gaetz wanted McCarthy gone and the Democrats wanted McCarthy gone.
It was not just a happy coincidence.
Unemployment benefits, small business benefits, even major corporation benefits to the airlines industry, saved a lot of people from the over reaction of governors locking down their states.
Faux News....enough said.

"It is the decision of the President," not governors, to "open up the states."
If Pelosi had lived up to her words with McCarthy, then anything Gaetz did would not have mattered. It's my belief that Gaetz was only sending a message to McCarthy to toe the line with his caucus, and did not expect Pelosi to side with ousting McCarthy.
I also believe that McCarthy believed that he had Pelosi's support, which is why he said "bring it on" to Gaetz and that he would win, when he scheduled the vote.
And I also believe that someone as cunning and deceitful as Pelosi might have had good intentions with McCarthy when she said those words to him, but she couldn't pass up the opportunity to have her own "Operation Chaos" against Republicans when push came to shove. Democrats have a long history of reneging on deals with Republicans going back to Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell (or further back with Reagan and O'Neill on amnesty).
Anyone who relies on a "deal" with Democrats is flirting with disaster. I believe that McCarthy did and Gaetz did not.

He’s our AOC.

Nobody on earth is that stupid, with the possible exception of Biden himself.
She’s Hank (”Guam’s gwina tip over”) Johnson stupid.

You know this information how?
You are the self proclaimed expert on repulsive.
Hmmmmm?
Donald Trump April 13, 2020 : "It is the decision of the President," not governors, to "open up the states."
So you agree, the governors including DeSantis shut it down, Trump left it up to the governors to open it back down, AND the Cares Act in large part paid for that government destruction of private employment and private business!
Handing over every single thing globalist criminal Brandon wanted is a “tough job”?
He voted Aye on CRs that were not related to COVID-19.
What is his SPECIFIC plan to reduce the deficit and national debt?
Sounds like you are the one saying Trump was wrong
What ones?
I'll cite the last two votes with roll calls.
The 2024 budget CR | September of 2023
The debt limit vote | June 2023
Both were nays by Gaetz. Your turn.
What is his SPECIFIC plan to reduce the deficit and national debt?
For starters, 12 appropriates bills instead of one big CR and one big Omnibus. It's something that should have been done in June. But instead McCarthy told everybody to take a 6 weeks vacation. Just another example of McCarthy and the uniparty sabotaging what needs to be done.
And along those lines, GOPe McHenry just gave the caucus a week off, when we have 8 more appropriation bills that need to be completed in the next 45 days. WTF?!
But you continue to avoid what I asked you.
I'll ask it again.
Do you agree, the governors including DeSantis shut it down, Trump left it up to the governors to open it back down, AND the Cares Act in large part paid for that government destruction of private employment and private business?
Yes or no?
What’s the definition of insanity?
