Matt Gaetz burns down the Republican House

If you’re kicking yourself for missing the historic moment of a House speaker’s ouster Tuesday because you had to work or get your kids from school, relax: We watched, and all it boiled down to was hot air — sound and fury, signifying nothing except cynical nihilism and likely weeks of chaotic paralysis.

Oh, Rep. Matt Gaetz and his fellow rebels talked plenty about high principle and the crisis of the Republic, but all they were really doing was burning down the House, or at least the House Republican majority.

Professed conservative hardliner Gaetz got the chaos he wanted, ironically thanks to the unanimous support of House Democrats, who joined the tiny GOP Suicide Squad...

Dems, of course, are reveling in the dysfunctional circus — and will presumably try to spin it out for as long as possible...

No one knows what comes next: The rebels have no candidate for speaker, let alone a plan for keeping the party’s most moderate members from turning to the Democrats in desperation for a return to regular order.

Gaetz and his allies didn’t take a bold stand for anything but self-indulgent nihilism — they were mad at how things have been going, so they blew everything up.

The reality remains that the Dems control the White House and the Senate, so the Republicans in Congress are unable to get much done, let alone realize the demands knocking about in Gaetz’s wildest dreams.

This arson no doubt feels good, like you’ve at last done something — just like punching a wall.

Then your hand starts to hurt and you realize that that’s all you’ve achieved...

Also up in the air: What Republican would even want the speaker’s job, so long as it means being held hostage by Gaetz and his crew?

They aren’t even faking anymore. I think the best tell is when Ukraine was the only topic they ever posted on.
I know zero real life Americans that only speak about Ukraine.
In some form or another, these shitbirds are making money off of war.

If it was such chaos, Why did the Speaker Pro Tempore McHenry (geez, another ‘Mc”) send everyone home?

Nothing but hogwash. Gaetz was right to get McCarthy out. Hope there’s one of them that can garner the votes to take over and not continue to sell us down the river.

Most in the GOP have no interest in governing, and those that do, many are incompetent. McCarthy has only himself to blame ... he needed to show leadership, step up and keep his party together. My theory is that he believed that enough demonkkraps would save him after all he gave them in the latest CR to avoid dealing with Gaetz et al. Trusting or banking on the demonkkraps to save a GOP member - he deserves to be gone.

Conservative is as conservative does. When RINOs do stuff that’s conservative, then they can legitimately move into that category.

I hope they spend the remainder of their lives wearing knee pads in San Francisco for money.

If the Weazel D1cks select another RINO then I hope Gaetz gives them the zot too.

On one hand I see that this shows chaos and instability to a public, most of which are very ignorant of what is happening in DC and are following the left wing media narrative.

On the other hand, if we did not have disruption, we will be left with the status quo. THE STATUS QUO HAS BECOME UNTENABLE with all the problems this country is facing on the economy, border and national security. The democrats are completely and blatantly lawless and corrupt. They don't even give an appearance of following the rules. One of the main reasons is because they know that the republicans will not do anything substantial.

So disruption has brought up important topics to address. It has exposed the sweetheart deal between Pelosi and McCarthy - which I am flabbergasted to hear.

Dear RINOs,

The Republican party will become an all America First MAGA party or All Sleazy Assistant Democrat party. One or the other.

"When RINOs do stuff that’s conservative"

And you are the one who decides what is RINO and/or Conservative behavior. Gotcha!

Yep. There is a pattern.
Most of the McCarthyBots here are Never Trumpers and MeatBots.
Definitely a pattern.

They have had a very bad week.
Ronnie circling the Toilet Bowl and McCarthy getting flushed down the Toilet Bowl.

“If we did not have disruption, we will be left with the status quo. THE STATUS QUO HAS BECOME UNTENABLE with all the problems this country is facing on the economy, border and national security.”

Isn’t this what “democracy” supposed to look like? Leadership changes without bloodshed? Sure beats another business as usual.

Isn’t the NYP a Murdoch property?

I saw Kilmeade interview one of the 8 congressman (guy was from TN). Kilmeade decided to try and do a Mean Girls take on this w/ the Congressman. Kilmeade was rude and quite stupid. The Congressman was standing on principle.

I used to like Kilmeade. No longer. Not after this morning.

Lachlan must’ve sent out marching orders.

The Left lost another one of their secret defenders.

Sure, its why ALL 208 Democrats voted against McCarthy with Gaetz and his other 7 Republicans. Makes sense

In addition to what I said above, I don't care about what the NY Post and Murdoch thinks about what Gaetz did. NY Post and Murdoch want the status quo and the secret shenanigans with the corrupt democrats.

Conservative voters want the disruption and new alignments. Again THE STATUS QUO IS UNTENABLE WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS WE ARE CURRENTLY FACING. There may be risks to this, but how much are we going to lose than what we have already lost and are losing - if we keep playing by the same playbook.

Cute, but the "oh," was an interjection and not the abbreviation for Ohio.

I would also note the following:

Young Guns - Cantor, Ryan, McCarthy.

Cantor - primaried.
Ryan - left CONgress. Hired by Murdoch empire. Anti-Trump.
McCarthy - removed from power.

I see this as a good thing.

“a plan for keeping the party’s most moderate members from turning to the Democrats in desperation for a return to regular order.”

Do the authors even know what regular order is and how long it has been since there has been regular order in the House?

Of course, no one will talk about the invasion on the border or Biden's crimes, the news will be all about Republican chaos

They don’t talk about it now. Changing Leadership just might get something done for a change. McCarthy was just John Boehner or Paul Ryan. Maybe this time we’ll get someone that actually will look out for our interests.

There sure is a high correlation between Ukraine and McCarthy support on FR. Interesting…

Exactly. Toss in ‘Never Trumpers’
