I knew that Gavin Newsom would make this pick, in fact I said it somewhere on FR recently. But he should have picked a Hispanic male because they’re the largest minority in California, if he’s playing identity politics.
He already did. He appointed Alex Padilla to fill Harris' seat when she became VP.
The other senator is Hispanic. Black women are their nose reliable voters/idiots, so that’s why he made this pick. It’ll be pretty funny if she’s unseated by that scumbag Schiff next year.

Blacks are just 5% of California’s population. Asians are 15%. Hispanics 40%. Arguably, whites may be California’s largest minority group.
But why pander to 5%? Heck, at least go Asian...
California’s other senator is a Hispanic Male - also appointed by Newsom - so he’s got both bases covered.
