I agree - Newsom himself is in the same position for a run for POTUS.
I doubt the Democrats will push for a straight White male to run - it HAS to be a POC, most likely a female, just as Biden said his VP was going to be a black woman.
Newsom is in a tough positions - appoint Adam Schiff (God Forbid) or placate the Democrat party and appoint a black, or more likely, Hispanic female, a “Wise Latina.”
My bet is on a LatinX gets appointed Califoria Senator, which these days can mean tranny trans tranny too
