One way or the other it will eventually be controlled. Most folks don’t realize that the cops aren’t really here to protect us from evil people. They’re here to protect the evil people from us.
Once normal folks come to that realization and see that they’re on their own, well, they will be on their own. The bad guys aren’t going to like that, not one little bit.

Controlled is not good enough. It needs to be ended.
How long would it take? There are various methods. First all the jail cells would have to be cleared of illegals. We’d need the room. Second fill them up with Americans. Third, a penal colony somewhere staffed with cheap 3rd world locals. Lease the land. Make it ‘American’ property. A country with low recidivism.
It would be draconian but the faster it’s done the faster people would appreciate the change.
6 months for drug possession. 2nd offense 2 years. That would end the drug problem. No need to hang offenders like they do in Singapore.
