Prince of Bavaria Calls ‘Low-Cut,’ Cleavage-Bearing Oktoberfest Costumes ‘Cultural Appropriation’

The Prince of Bavaria complained about the effect 'cultural appropriation' has had on Oktoberfest, bemoaning the fact that the annual German festival is 'just about wearing a costume to get drunk in.'

While speaking to a local radio station, Luitpold Rupprecht Heinrich said that the focus on spectacle has caused Oktoberfest to lose its way.

"When I see Chinese-made folk costumes made of plastic, pseudo-costumes with tight dirndls, then the whole thing becomes a carnival," Heinrich said, per the Daily Mail. "We all talk about cultural appropriation today. Here it's happening to us Bavarians!"

The great-grandson of the last Bavarian king is not alone in his concerns about how Oktoberfest has changed. Many traditionalists feel what is supposed to be a celebration of Bavarian culture has now become an excuse to dress up and drink.

"If the whole thing is just about wearing a costume to get drunk in...you lose a lot of culture and tradition in the process," Heinrich said.

The first-ever Oktoberfest in 1810 was a celebration of the wedding between Prince Regent Ludwig of Bavaria, the later King Ludwig I, and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen.

Call me crazy but if they want to identify as Bavarian girls I’m not going to ask for birth certificates. :)

My pronouns are yes/ma’am and sugar/daddy.

Yes...she was the one that caught my eye!

I just did a search for “Octoberfest girls” and looked at a few, saw that one and grabbed it.

Must have been fun to shoot...:)

The girls may be photo-shopped into the pic but that is definitely the Flat Irons in the background.
I’d bet my life on it.

I’m afraid that is more history than my education can bear
but it sounds like a great story!

Hey, Prince Incel of Bavaria: when I gaze at dirndl cleavage I’m not “appropriating culture” I am “celebrating diversity”, so suck it!

Lola Montez—is the origin of the saying “What ever Lola wants, Lola Gets.” I believe it was Bavarian peasants who coined that one.
