U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-2) is taking a hard look at that senate seat that Democrats can’t untangle from Bob Menendez, says a source.
The feds indicted Menendez last week, but he insists on remaining in power over calls for him to resign.
Van Drew, a former Democrat turned Trump county rock-ribbed Republican, hails from Cape May County.
Donald Trump’s most vocal and sustained ally in New Jersey, his allies see him as particularly advantageously footed to make the case against Democrats.
It would be a hard statewide bench press for the South Jerseyan, but he would have the boost of a stout political alliance with Trump, if Trump occupies the top of the ticket. When Trump was president, he came to Wildwood expressly to offer a personal, open-armed welcome of Van Drew to the GOP.

The last time Melendez got into this situation, he won by a huge margin. They called the race five minutes after the polls closed. Memendez has the Union County machine oiled and making votes for him at the speed of sound.
He will not resign.
He will beat the wrap.
He will be elected going away.
Of course, it's Jersey. GO for it!
It’s NJ. The best we could hope for is more democrat resources put into the race to win it. To think the next gov-to-senate candidates would have been Fatboy and Christie Todd. Let’s not forget the Kean fella. What does our guy get out of it? Undersecretary post or ambassadorship?
“The last time Melendez got into this situation, he won by a huge margin.”

Which proves there’s no such thing as bad publicity. It was a boon to his name recognition. LOL
I amend my previous statement, but only slightly. As one Freeper has already noted, if the machine wants him gone, he is gone. But I stand by what I said before, it certainly won’t be the voters who decide. The democrat machine in NJ is just sorting who gets appointed to what post.

And I agree with you.
