Gang wars are causing an "unprecedented" wave of violence in Sweden, said national police chief Anders Thornberg at a press conference held after a spate of fatal shootings in the past couple of weeks.
In recent years, Sweden has seen gangs fighting over arms and drug trafficking, involving firearms and explosive devices.
"There have recently been murders and explosions on an unprecedented scale," police chief Anders Thornberg told a press conference.
"Several boys aged between 13 and 15 have been killed, the mother of a criminal was executed at home, and a young man in Uppsala was shot dead on his way to work", he added.

Maybe the Swedish prison system is to blame... Their prison cells are like hotel rooms, no room mates and you even get a full bathroom with a fridge and large screen TV.
When you go to prison and get better accommodations than you currently live in and get to smoke pot... Yeah... That isn’t much of a deterrent to crime.

My wife and I visited Sweden in January of 2020 and flew into Stockholm, from Munich. I felt like we were in some mid east country. We then flew north to Luleå in Swedish Lapland, it was beautiful and peaceful. We drove further to Jokkmokk in the Artic Circle and Swedish Lapland, it was like two different countries (Stockholm)!
